Abstract

Presentation slides of a talk given to the New York Library Association in Niagara Falls, NY on October 15, 2009. Based on the work of Clay Shirky and Yochia Benkler, the concept of social production is reviewed. Because of the development of new technology tools sharing, creating, and acting in concert has become much easier and the result is new ways of doing things that are less dependent of organizations. The implications of these developments for libraries are explored.
